The frame inner dimensions should match your mat outer dimensions. If your print is 30x20cm with 5cm mat borders, you need a frame with inner dimensions of 40x30cm. Standard frame sizes in the UK include A4, A3, 30x40cm, 40x50cm, and 50x70cm.

Frame moulding width depends on the print size and style. Small prints (A4 and under) suit 1.5-2.5cm mouldings. Medium prints (A3-A2) suit 2.5-4cm. Large prints (A1+) suit 4-6cm. Slim modern frames use 1-2cm, while ornate traditional frames can be 6-10cm wide.

Wood frames are classic and suit most styles. Aluminium frames are modern and lightweight. For long-term archival display, use UV-protective glass or acrylic, acid-free mounting, and conservation-grade mat board. Avoid cheap clip frames for valuable prints.
